About two weeks ago I went a little video crazy. I was really sick, and didn't feel like doing much of anything besides laying in my bed with my laptop, grapefruit juice and tons of aspirin. So I passed the time making tribute videos for my youtube channel. I'm not going to embed them all in this post, so here is my favorite, a tribute to Julie Christie, and then links to view the others, if you'd like.
tribute to Far From the Madding Crowd
tribute to Barbara Stanwyck
tribute to Meet John Doe
a new tribute to Dirk Bogarde (hey, I saw your eyes roll!)

Classic Movie Christmas Cards!

It's about time there were some classic movie Christmas cards, eh?! Thanks to a suggestion from Cliff at Immortal Ephemera and Warren-William.com, I decided to make some! These are a combination of paper collage and marker. The text is all hand-drawn, and the color is all added by hand, no digital color.
They're available as a set for $12, with shipping included. If you'd like to mix-and-match or just get 7 of 1 design, just let me know in the message at checkout. Just a heads up, this button takes you to my Flapper Doodle cart in case you get confused :)

Upcoming British films on TCM

While perusing my December issue of Now Playing tonight, I realized that while I highlight tons of movies to record, and see dozens to look forward to, I get really, really giddy when I spot a British title amongst all of the Hollywood ones. It goes kind of like this..
"Mickey Rooney, Mickey Rooney, ok another Mickey Rooney, hmm.. they're playing Rear Window again... OMG OMG OMG GLYNIS JOHNS! OMG WHAT THE HECK, GLYNIS JOHNS *AND* PETER FINCH!!!!"
So I decided to start making a list of the upcoming films on TCM that were made in Britain or star actors who were almost exclusively in British films (ie. Cary Grant doesn't count, but an American film starring Ralph Richardson would) for anyone who experiences similar glee watching films from Ole' Britannia.
///...Before I list them, I just want to spit out a few words about the blog. I haven't felt the urge to write a movie review or post about a movie star in a while. The majority of the comments I was receiving prior to my little absence (if you haven't noticed, I haven't blogged here since September) were, to say the least, discouraging me from further writing. Whether they were correcting my facts, fervently disagreeing with my opinions or generally just being negative, they were hurting my self esteem and putting a damper on my will to write here. I am, as you know, a pretty insecure person/writer/artist so it doesn't take much to get me out of the mood. Anyway, I went through a similar season of blogging disillusionment, so to speak, last December, and got over it fine so I'll probably get over this too. Anyway, I just wanted to let anyone who's interested know that I'm still here, just not every day. (However, if you like me enough to have daily doses of my wit and brilliance --har har-- I do blog almost every day at Scathingly Brilliant.) \\\\
