TCMFF souvenir giveaway!

April 18, 2017

I'll be posting my recap from the 2017 TCM Film Festival shortly, but I wanted to share this first. I picked up some souvenirs from the TCM Gift Shop at the festival for a little giveaway! I'm a bit of a souvenir junkie, so shopping in the TCM Boutique is always one of my favorite parts of the trip. When I stayed home during the 2015 fest I definitely felt like I was missing out, since the items aren't available online. So if you missed the festival or just were too busy at TCMFF to drop by the Boutique, this is your chance to get your hands on some festival goodies!

If you win you'll receive a magnet with an image from The Palm Beach Story, the official 2017 festival enamel pin, and a set of postcards featuring the poster artwork from the festival (includes Born Yesterday, The Palm Beach Story, The Jerk, The Graduate, and an image of the Chinese Theater.)

To enter, leave a comment letting me know what you would pick if you could have any movie play at the TCM Film Festival. I'd have a hard time answering this question myself so if you can't narrow it down to one, that's totally okay ;) You can also gain an extra entry by retweeting the giveaway on twitter here. Just leave a second comment letting me know that you retweeted the giveaway. I'll be choosing a winner based on the comments on this post, so if you RT on twitter but don't comment on this post, that entry will not be counted.

I'll randomly select a winner on April 26th. The winner is Lê! Congratulations!

That is a hard question! I've had the chance to see many of my favorite films on the big screen, whether at TCMFF or elsewhere, but one that never screens is I SEE A DARK STRANGER. That would be my pick!

I would say one of my all time favorite Noirs "CRISS CROSS". Burt Lancaster, Yvonne DeCarlo, Dan Duryea and great location shooting in postwar Los Angeles. I've seen it a couple of times, but to see it again on the big screen would be amazing. So, there's my pick! Also, I re-tweeted your post on Twitter.

I would love to see the glorious technicolor of Leave Her to Heaven on the big screen. Gene Tierney was so evil but so good in the role.

I'd pick I Married a Witch. It's Veronica Lake's best film and has a host of great behind the scenes stories about how much she hated Frederic March.

Retweeted as well.

I kind of threw this out there when I came back from the TCM Classic Film Festival. I would love to go to a Classic Christmas Film Festival screening at Grauman's Chinese Theater(My Favorite!) Films like REMEMBER THE NIGHT (1940,)CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT (1945,)LOVE FINDS ANDY HARDY(1938,)CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY (1944)~not the usual Christmas holiday films.

The first title that came to mind is Rebecca, I think that'd be a great one for TCMFF. It's also one of the most beautiful black-and-white films ever, it'd look stunning on the big screen!

For me personally I would choose the women , anchors aweigh and singing in the rain as my personal choices!

I would like to see a great silent film like 'Beyond The Rocks,' 'The Unknown,' or 'He Who Gets Slapped.' Some of the greatest acting of all time (in my opinion) comes from Lon Chaney in both Unknown or He. I love all films, but seeing more silents would be incredible.

I couldn't possibly pick just one! I'd want a double feature of Rebecca and The Uninvited. Both are ghostly and disquieting, but beautifully shot and eerily romantic. I'd also love to see The Adventures of Robin Hood because it's bright & bold and a lot of fun. I'd round it off with Roman Holiday because it's one of the first films that got me interested in classic movies so I'd love to see it with an big audience!

(I've also retweeted the contest tweet! Thanks for this awesome giveaway!)

Also, I just watched a movie that I think would be perfect for TCMFF: Dancing Lady, 1933, with Joan Crawford and Clark Gable. Pardon for those who like it, but the musical numbers are bonkers and very amusing to watch with an audience. If the copy is in nitrate, even better! ;)

Kiss Me Kate! Seeing it like that in its original 3D with an audience would be nothing short of spectacular.

Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
First academy award winning actress Janet Gaynor stars in this brilliant, dramatic silent film
Such a fantastic film!!

Hi Kate, it was great to meet you at the festival.
I'm not sure if TCMFF has previously featured these films,
but I would love to see Gold Diggers of 1933 or Footlight
Parade. The musical numbers in these films would look amazing
projected. I'd also love to see 1928's The Wind on the big screen.
I can only imagine how fantastic the intense and eerie atmosphere
of the knock-out final sequence would look one the big screen.
In addition, the screening would provide a great opportunity to
spotlight the powerful role of women in early Hollywood.
On that note, as the festival moves towards including newer classics,
I think Elaine May's A New Leaf would be a wonderful way to represent
TCM's commitment to highlighting trailblazing women on the network
and at the festival. Maybe May would even be willing to visit Club
TCM to discuss her career!

Without a doubt, I would choose Night Must Fall! It's probably my all time favorite classic film and every time I watch it, I'm amazed by Robert Montgomery's transformation from a poor, helpless soul into a ruthless killer. Such a fantastic thriller!

I'd choose Vera Chytilová's Daisies, it'd be pretty cool to see it on a big screen! <3

I retweeted the giveaway already.

I have quite a few ideas. Since they played Love Crazy this year, why not I Love You Again next year?

A film I would choose to see at the Classic Film Festival is Lonelyhearts (1958). I choose this film, well, because I haven't seen it yet! A black & white melodrama is meant to be seen first on the big screen. Montgomery Clift immerses himself deeply into his characters which I imagine makes a satisfying pair with Myrna Loy--though I was surprised to learn that they made a film together, along with Robert Ryan.
(I RTed:))
